Research-use-only compounds

A substantial part of this site concerns compounds supplied "for research use only". That designation is not a formality and it is not a loophole. Material sold under it:

• is not approved for human use in any jurisdiction we are aware of;
• carries no pharmacopoeial release testing — nobody is obliged to have measured its identity, content, sterility or pyrogen load before it shipped;
• is covered by no pharmacovigilance system, so if it harms someone there is no mechanism by which anyone finds out;
• comes with no recourse — no regulator to complain to, no manufacturer liability, and generally no reversible payment;
• and has a legal status on import that varies by country, sometimes substantially.

Discussion of these compounds on this site is descriptive and, where relevant, harm-reducing. It is not encouragement to obtain or administer them. Where a question asks how to do something we consider unwise, the answers generally say so.

What we do not do

• We do not sell anything, and we have nothing to sell.
• We do not supply, source, broker or facilitate the supply of any compound.
• We do not provide individual dosing guidance. Protocol arithmetic and published label schedules are described; instructions to administer are not given.
• We are not affiliated with any manufacturer, pharmacy, compounder, telehealth provider or research supplier, and we hold no financial interest in any of them.
• We do not host contact handles of any kind — no messaging-app handles and no telephone numbers, anywhere on the site, including in sponsor units.

Sponsorship, stated plainly

The site carries labelled sponsor placements from Janoshik Analytical, PeptideMeter, Sigma-Aldrich and GL Biochem (Shanghai). These, and the storefront link on each vendor profile, are the only outbound links on the site, and all of them are marked as sponsored. Sponsorship buys placement and nothing else: it does not affect a vendor rating, the content of any answer, or whether a critical thread stays up. None of the twenty suppliers in the vendor directory has ever paid us anything.

Accuracy and its limits

We take accuracy seriously and we will still be wrong sometimes. Specific known limits:

• Trial figures are reproduced from primary publications and regulatory assessment reports. Where a figure depends on the estimand, we try to say which one. Where we are uncertain of an exact citation string, we cite the trial, journal and year rather than inventing a volume number.
• Stability figures for research-grade presentations are, with very few exceptions, extrapolations rather than measurements. The stability reference labels each row accordingly.
• Independent test results reported here describe the vial that was tested. They do not describe the vial you would be shipped.
• Vendor ratings aggregate opinion and are deliberately jittered from a shared baseline. They are not measurements and will not match another site's figures.
• Regulatory positions on compounding and personal importation have changed repeatedly since 2023. Anything here with a date should be checked against the current position.

When to stop reading and seek care

Not an exhaustive list, and not a substitute for judgement: severe or persistent abdominal pain, particularly radiating to the back; persistent vomiting with reduced urine output; signs of an expanding, warm, tender injection site with fever; new visual disturbance; syncope; any symptom you would take seriously if a drug were not involved. These are reasons to contact a clinician or emergency service, not reasons to post a question.

Jurisdiction

This site is published for an international readership. Legal and regulatory statements are necessarily jurisdiction-specific and are labelled where we know the jurisdiction. Where a question does not name one, treat any confident regulatory answer as describing somewhere that may not be where you are.
