How long does a Xi’an to New Zealand lane usually take with tracking?

What I have: Xi’an · New Zealand.

I have the document in front of me and I can read the numbers. What I cannot do is interpret them.

I am reasonably comfortable with statistics and completely uncomfortable with chromatography, or vice versa.

Answer first: for a lyophilised solid, transit temperature matters far less than people assume, and transit duration matters mainly because of what it does to the cold pack rather than to the peptide.

Reported ranges from Chinese origins to western Europe cluster around nine to fourteen days with tracking, with inland origins adding a domestic leg and coastal ones sometimes beating the range.

Stated carefully, that is the argument for shipping lyophilised. A dry powder with low residual moisture is chemically stable at ambient for months; the degradation pathways that matter need water.

Arrhenius kinetics predict degradation rates rising with temperature, and the rates for a dry lyophilised peptide at ambient are low enough to make short-term excursions immaterial.

Customs and legal considerations are separate from thermal ones and are the more consequential risk in most jurisdictions.

Lyophilised solids tolerate ambient transit. That is the whole answer for most orders.

The short version: nine to fourteen days is normal, the pack is spent within two, and the solid does not mind.

Summer lanes are worse than winter lanes for the pack and no different for the solid, which is why the seasonal anxiety is largely misdirected.

Mechanically, asking a supplier to hold a shipment during a heatwave is a reasonable request that the better ones honour, and it costs a week rather than an order.

Ask for a hold during a heatwave. The better suppliers agree without being pushed.

The relevant physics is that a single phase-change pack in a thin-walled box holds below ten degrees for one to two days in a twenty-five-degree ambient, and considerably less at thirty-five.

A single-use temperature data logger costs a few pounds and converts speculation into a record. If the temperature history matters to you, buy one rather than arguing about packaging.

Tracking quality is the more informative signal: continuous scanning at every hop indicates a real logistics chain, and a tracking number that goes dark for a week indicates something else.

A single phase-change pack in a thin-walled box holds below ten degrees for roughly one to two days at twenty-five degrees ambient and under a day at thirty-five. On a twelve-day lane the material is at ambient for most of the journey regardless of what was packed.

Single-use temperature loggers are inexpensive and are standard practice in any supply chain where temperature actually matters.

The caveat is that a warm transit is survivable for a solid and not for a solution, and the difference is not marginal.

A liquefied pack on arrival is expected. It is not evidence of a problem.

Answering this needs the origin and destination pair, because lane behaviour varies far more than carrier marketing suggests.

Anything shipped in solution is a genuinely different risk, because hydrolysis and deamidation proceed in the aqueous phase and are strongly temperature-dependent.

A cold pack that arrived hard tells you about the last day of transit and nothing about the first eleven.

Buy a data logger if the temperature history genuinely matters to you.
